Not on every trim. GM's 2019 Traverse order guide shows Side Blind Zone Alert as not available on the L, LS and LT Cloth. It shows up on the LT Leather, either as part of a package or standard depending on the configuration, and comes on the higher trims. If you've got a lower-trim Traverse, it almost certainly isn't there.
Does the 2019 Chevy Traverse have blind spot monitoring? The quick version
- L, LS, LT Cloth: not available from the factory
- LT Leather: on FWD models it came in a package (GM lists it with the Convenience and Driver Confidence Package); configurations vary, so check yours
- Higher trims: standard
GM calls the feature Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert, and it travels with Rear Cross Traffic Alert. If you're shopping used, look for those names on the listing or sticker.
How to check your Traverse
- Look at your side mirrors. If your Traverse has the system, there's a small warning symbol built into each outside mirror. No symbol, no system.
- Find the parts label in the glove box. GM's Service Parts Identification sticker lists option codes. Side Blind Zone Alert shows up as UKC, and Rear Cross Traffic Alert as UFG.
- Ask a dealer. They can pull the build sheet from your VIN in a minute.
The Traverse is a big three-row SUV. That long body and wide rear pillars make a decent-sized blind spot, which is exactly why owners of base trims go looking for this.

Adding blind spot detection to your Traverse
Our Authentic OEM BlindSpot Detection with Cross Traffic Detection is a radar system built from original equipment parts. Per the listing:
- The radar mounts behind a plastic bumper cover
- Cross traffic detection is included, so you get a heads-up when backing out of a busy parking lot
- You pick a CAN version, which reads reverse, turn signal and speed info from your vehicle's data network, or a VSS version, which uses the vehicle speed signal wire
Send GCH your VIN and we'll tell you which version fits before you order.
FAQ
Is the 2019 GMC Acadia the same story?
Similar idea, different trims. We broke it down in a separate post on the 2019 Acadia.
What does UKC mean on my parts sticker?
It's GM's option code for Lane Change Alert with Side Blind Zone Alert. If UKC is on your label, your Traverse has it.
Why isn't blind spot alert on every trim?
We explain it in Why isn't blind spot warning standard on every car?
Next step
Check the mirrors and your glove-box sticker. If UKC isn't there, take a look at the OEM BlindSpot Detection kit and reach out with your VIN.
