Not as standard equipment. FCA listed Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection as available features on the all-new 2018 Jeep Wrangler JL, meaning they were optional. Many JLs were built without them, and the Wrangler's upright body, soft or hard top, and rear-mounted spare make the blind spots behind the driver larger than in a typical SUV.
Does the 2018 Jeep Wrangler have blind spot monitoring?
When FCA introduced the 2018 JL, it promoted more than 75 available safety and security features. Blind-spot Monitoring and Rear Cross Path detection were among them, alongside the available ParkView backup camera and Rear Park Assist. The key word is available: they were options, not part of the base vehicle. Note also that this applies to the new JL generation; the outgoing 2018 Wrangler JK sold alongside it is a different vehicle.
How to check your JL
- Look at the outside mirrors. Equipped Wranglers show a warning icon in each mirror when a vehicle is detected.
- Check the window sticker or build sheet. Look for Blind-spot Monitoring or Rear Cross Path on the option list. A dealer can pull the build from your VIN.
- Check the Uconnect settings. Vehicles with the system have blind spot settings available; vehicles without it do not.
The Wrangler-specific catch: your rear bumper
Radar blind spot systems, factory or retrofit, sense through the bumper cover. GCH's listing states its kit works on vehicles with plastic fascias. That matters on a Wrangler more than almost anywhere else, because many owners replace the rear bumper with a steel aftermarket unit. If your JL still has its factory rear bumper, check what the corners are made of; if you have a steel bumper, ask GCH before you order.

Adding blind spot detection to a 2018 Wrangler
GCH's Authentic OEM BlindSpot Detection with Cross Traffic Detection is a radar system built from original equipment components. Per the listing, it:
- Mounts its radar behind a plastic bumper fascia
- Includes cross traffic detection for reversing, which helps when backing out past taller vehicles
- Comes in a CAN version, which reads reverse, turn-signal and speed data from the vehicle network, and a VSS version, which connects to the vehicle speed signal wire
Send GCH your VIN and a photo of your rear bumper to confirm fitment and version.

This post covers the new JL. The JK is an earlier design with different equipment, so check it separately.
Will oversized tires or a lift affect the system?
Sensor mounting height and angle matter for any radar system. Tell GCH about lifts and bumper changes when you ask about fitment.
